Top 15 of 2018!

One cannot end the year without a Best Of list. It’s impossible not to love a good list, amirite?! You better fucking believe I do! Especially a book list.

I made it easy for myself because life is hard enough as it is, my dudes, without having to sweat out how I’m going to narrow this impressive list down. I ended up going with all of my 5 star reads throughout the year, then if there were multiple books by the same author, I chose my favorite of those. Keeping it simple! Now.. because I have a slight rebellious streak, I counted the glorious Seanan McGuire (also writing as Mira Grant) as two different entities. I DO WHAT I WANT!!

2018 was a mixed bag personally.. but when it came to the books I read, it was on some next level shit! I loved that I had such a great blend of older releases with the brand-new ones. Some of my favorite books of all-time were ones I had read this year. It’s just been an absolutely brilliant time for books! 2019 is looking like it will be another incredible year for new releases as well. My excitement is through the goddamn roof!

AHEM. I’ll save that for another post in the new year.

Without further ado, my top 15 books read in 2018! ::throws confetti:: Continue reading “Top 15 of 2018!”

The Grimdragons Top Ten of 2017!

Corey: What better way to cap off our (almost) first year of blogging than with a year-end TOP TEN list?!!? Who doesn’t love a good list, Holly?! A MONSTER!!! That’s who. I believe we’ve read & reviewed 40 books for the blog this year (I’m not counting again, but it’s 40…ish), but these 10….these were fated to be on this list. I think we only had one or two differences when we each made our lists, no? (Tower Lord by Anthony Ryan would be my honorable mention!!) GAHH!!! We read so many awesome books this year, Holly!!! Can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for The Grimdragons!!!

Holly: Lists! ALL THE LISTS! Although admittedly, I break out into a cold sweat when trying to narrow down all the things I love into a tiny numbered list though. I CANNOT BE CONTAINED! Our first year of blogging.. wow. The poor blog has been neglected as of late what with distractions, holidays, LIFE! But we plan on resurrecting the beast in the new year. Maybe give it an overhaul & make this clunky ship soar again! We both love a list, so this needed to happen! A top ten.. out of all the amazing books we’ve read this year. This list is pretty fucking wicked! There is a lot to love here. We literally had one difference when comparing. My honorable mention was for Emperor of Thorns. I just can’t shake Jorg! I love that series so goddamn much!! It’s been a fantastic year for reading. I am so excited to see what badass books we get to in 2018! LET’S DO THE DAMN THING!!! Grimdragon Spotlight: Nicholas Eames

Hey Nicholas! We are so happy that you agreed to do this interview with us!

As you know, we read Kings of the Wyld in May & both thought you fucking KILLED your debut! It is one of our favorite books of 2017. Can you briefly describe what it is about?

I’m glad you think so! Let’s see…Kings of the Wyld takes place in a setting where mercenary bands are afforded the worldwide notoriety of rock stars. It features Clay Cooper, a retired mercenary, who is begged by his old friend, Gabriel, to reunite their old band and rescue Gabe’s daughter, who is trapped in a city under siege by a horde of bloodthirsty monsters. Kings of the Wyld – Nicholas Eames

Synopsis: GLORY NEVER GETS OLD.

Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best, the most feared and renowned crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld.

Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk, or a combination of the three. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay’s door with a plea for help–the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for.

It’s time to get the band back together. Continue reading “Kings of the Wyld – Nicholas Eames”
